Hinterlands Syrah 2022

Each parcel is vinified separately and according to its unique characteristics. On average, 20% whole bunch fermentation and an extended maceration to soften tannins. The wine is matured in older 225L French oak barrels for 10 months before bottling. This wine is made without any added Sulphites.

A fine example of what this region represents. Red berries, fynbos, olives and pepper on the nose with very fine grained tannins. this wine is immediately approachable. Drink now or later. 

In the wind swept, final frontier of wine growing in the Cape, the vines struggle for their survival. The dense fynbos and the icy, open skies create a feeling of desolation, an uncharted territory. Vineyards are scattered few and far between. At the same time, the unknown gives us freedom to explore, to try new things and venture into the Hinterlands; the place of undiscovered possibility.
